CHRISTUS Day

 2.1.16

We join together to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the founding of CHRISTUS Health. On February 1, 1999, the health care ministries of the Sisters of Charity Health Care System, Houston and the Incarnate Word Health System, San Antonio, officially consolidated their health systems to create CHRISTUS Health.

We recognize their courage and commitment to the Mission and their conviction to serve, especially the needs of the poor and most vulnerable. This ministry remains strong and vibrant because of the commitment and dedication of leaders, Associates, physicians and partners, like you, who have faithfully served together over the last fifteen years. Today, we are joined in celebration and thanksgiving with more than 30,000 of our CHRISTUS colleagues in service across this international ministry. Together, we continue to “extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ” wherever we are present.

Joining us in celebration are our two sponsoring congregations and our fellow regional health care ministries who, with us, comprise the international, Catholic, faith-based, not-for-profit health system, known as CHRISTUS Health.

Jointly sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word of Houston and of San Antonio, our extended health system includes more than 350 services and facilities, including more than 60 hospitals and long-term care facilities, 175 clinics and outpatient centers and dozens of other health ministries and ventures. With approximately 30,000 Associates and more than 9,500 physicians on facility medical staffs, the dimension, strength and depth of service throughout our ministry make CHRISTUS a leader among Catholic health care systems.

Our mission continues and is witnessed through the caring and compassionate actions of our Associates, physicians, nurses, caregivers and volunteers who serve together to bring about God’s healing and comfort to our neighbors throughout the Santa Rosa region. No matter our title or role, every one of us at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa brings healing and hope to all who seek our help.

Our efforts and contribution to the health and wellness of our community through local partnerships and community benefit programs and services continues to set us apart. In this ever-changing and challenging environment, we must continually define the value we bring to our communities. We have a responsibility to our patients, our communities and our ministry to ensure that we are being effective, focused and nimble in all we do.

Together, as local and regional ministries and as partners in this international health system, we will ensure that CHRISTUS Health remains a thriving health care ministry well into the future.
