Premier Pediatric Caregiver Marks 30 Year Milestone

The bravery of young patients and their families is a source of a lot of inspiration at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital- Tyler. There is a shared crisis when a sick child comes through the hospital doors, followed by the strong desire to make it possible for that pediatric patient to beat the odds. For this reason, and so many others, CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital- Tyler has earned itself a reputation as a respected medical leader and in 1987 was designated as the region’s only Children’s Miracle Network hospital.

Since then they’ve come into contact with thousands of Children’s Miracle Network Champions over the years. These Champions, as they are so aptly named, are the children who come through those hospital doors with challenges that no parent would want their child to face. From broken bones to bigger afflictions like birth defects or cancer, CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital- Tyler treats children of all ages and sizes—from the smallest of newborns to teenagers.

During the first weekend of June, the team at CHRISTUS celebrated those victories with The 30th Annual Children’s Miracle Network Celebration! The broadcast, which aired on the CBS station in Tyler, brought in a grand total of $1,265,839.47 raised in support of the pediatric services at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. The event’s broadcast featured local and national celebrities, stories of the children impacted by the community’s generosity, and vignettes of the extensive pediatric care provided throughout Northeast Texas’ CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.

Over the past 30 years, the generosity of the Northeast Texas community has allowed Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to support the exceptional care provided for sick and injured children through the development of numerous programs including the Special Needs Clinic for medically fragile children, the establishment of Tyler’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the support of all CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System Hospitals and Clinics with specialized pediatric equipment.

This weekend’s annual Celebration! Telethon was the culmination of the past year’s fundraising efforts. “Thirty years is a significant milestone,” said Robin Rowan, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Director, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System, “not only did we celebrate a year of record-setting community support, we brought back children and families who have been involved with Children’s Miracle Networks from the start. This event has been a blessing to me, and I know the funds raised will be a blessing to the community.”
