Here’s What Happens When You Love Your Community

Eighth grade will be a big year for Dallas teen Ashley.  She’ll become a full-fledged teenager and then next year she’ll go off to high school.  One day, she wants to be a doctor or maybe even hold a leadership post similar to Ernie Sadau, the President and CEO of CHRISTUS Health.  Smiling as she tells others about her dreams, it is easy to see why Ashley is well on her way.

Considerate and respectful, Ashley says so far she’s received a great education. This is thanks in large part to the support of her family, the great educators at St. Mary of Carmel, where she attends school, and now a much-needed scholarship to help her through the 2017-2018 school year.  Ashley is one of five Dallas Catholic School students to receive the award.

“When you love the community you live and work in, it is easy to want to give back.  That’s why we are honored again this year to take part in the Bishop’s Invitational Golf Tournament as a title sponsor,” explained Sadau. “We take seriously the responsibility to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.”

Headquartered in the Dallas area, CHRISTUS is very much a part of the Dallas Metroplex community. The Bishop’s Invitational Golf Tournament  takes place on Sept. 18, 2017 at the Four Seasons in Las Colinas. Funds raised from the tournament help fund urgent tuition needs for students in need at Catholic Schools of Dallas.

Helping to provide children with a quality Catholic education is noble cause, but more than that, CHRISTUS is helping young people go on to become part of a prestigious group of alumni.  One day these young people will likely become leaders in business, government or maybe even health care.  If they choose health care, CHRISTUS looks forward to welcoming them into the CHRISTUS family.  CHRISTUS is always looking to hire Associates with integrity and character, which includes many of those who have a wonderful foundation that is a great education.

Recently at CHRISTUS headquarters, in Irving, Texas, Sadau had the honor to hand out scholarships to five deserving students, including Ashley.  The group ranges in grade level from 3rd to 8th grades. Their families and school representatives were there to support them.

Here’s a closer look at the special occasion.

As a Catholic, faith-based health care system, CHRISTUS Health is guided by the mission; to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.  That mission plays out every day by offering compassionate care and advanced medicine in more than 100 cities in the United States, Mexico, Chile and Colombia.
