Often described as an art and a science, nursing has a long and important legacy in our history at CHRISTUS.
Throughout CHRISTUS Health’s rich history, nurses have demonstrated a constant presence of compassion and are at the very center of our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. Nurses are on the frontlines delivering quality care 24/7 all across the CHRISTUS system, serving with dedication and a strong commitment to quality patient care.
During National Nurses Week this year, I wanted to thank all 12,224 of our nurses…both those in the United States and in Latin America. You are in a profession that requires strength and passion. As nurses, we work in emergency rooms, school-based clinics, in intensive care units and operating rooms, to name just a few. We have many roles and touch many different lives.
Realizing the quality of our nursing care often determines the patient experience, we have worked hard over the last few years to hasten the improvement curve on patient experience scores and to meet our own high expectations when it comes to patient safety and quality.
We watch our data and have implemented a new norm including hourly rounding, nurse leader rounding, and bedside shift reporting. I’m proud of our improvements and proud of all of you, who are closest to patient care, for your feedback and ownership that makes CHRISTUS Health the exceptional organization it is today.
Happy Nurses Week,
Debi
