This year, right before the mid-term elections, we’ve learned that a record number of Texans have registered to vote before the Tuesday, October 9, 2018 deadline. It doesn’t come as too much of a surprise at CHRISTUS Health.
Why?
Well, because we made the midterm elections a big priority. The CHRISTUS Advocacy team worked to try and increase voter turnout through a nonpartisan campaign dubbed CHRISTUS Cares CHRISTUS Votes. The effort urges CHRISTUS Associates to combat what typically is low voter turnout. Not even 40 percent of eligible Americans votes in the midterm election of 2014.
At CHRISTUS Health, time is spent year-round presenting unbiased, nonpartisan information about elections, the voting process, and issues on the ballot. We do this because of our roles as advocates for the underserved, our patients and families and our communities.
Voter registration booths located in CHRISTUS workplaces and set up by the CHRISTUS Health Advocacy Team stayed busy last month.
Voting is a way of honoring our history and those generations to come. That message made clear in this video highlighting why CHRISTUS takes such an active role in getting our people to the polls.
